Auto-tracking systems for long-distance, point-to-point links

A complete auto-tracking system built around a steerable 2-axis antenna assembly that keeps a high-bandwidth connection locked onto a moving platform — aircraft, vessel, vehicle, or remote site — across long distances.

The problem it solves

Keeping a moving link alive

Fixed-dish links break down the moment either end is in motion. Our system pairs a long-range link with an auto-tracking antenna system that continuously steers itself to follow the remote station — by air, by sea, or over land — so line-of-sight and range don't have to be sacrificed for mobility.

Capabilities

A complete tracking and mapping solution

Ground tracking system

GTS

The ground tracking system automatically acquires and follows the remote terminal in real time, without manual steering.

While typically used to follow aircraft or helicopters, it has been used to track maritime vessels for sailing events too.

Airborne tracking system

ATS

The air tracking system is mounted to the aircraft and automatically follows the remote terminal in real time, while compensating for heading, altitude and the various attitudes the aircraft might find itself in.

TS-D user interface

Each system is driven by our own rack-mounted TS-D tracking system controllers, built in-house alongside the motor assemblies themselves.

The TS-D is the brain of the tracking motors and the interface for the operator. It is available with different options depending on the application, and is suitable for all tracking assembly types. Each unit is designed to drive 2 tracking assemblies and can be extended to a maximum of 4 - a space-efficient solution that offers on-board backup.

Being a closed-loop system with integrated encoders, all assemblies report real-time status and positioning information so that problems can easily be recognized and corrected.

The TS-D can be controlled through the front panel or the integrated ethernet interface which is fully compatible with the TS-D Live maps. A Windows compatible application is available as a replacement to the TS-D when needed.

Live mapping

TS-D Live

For accurate monitoring and situational awareness, TS-D Live offers real-time mapping visualisation of the waypoints used on a worldwide map that includes terrain information.

Available as both an online and offline service, TS-D Live offers a complete solution to intuitively and efficiently monitor and adjust the flight patterns where needed, from any location.

Signal integrity

Resilience against GNSS jamming and spoofing

In order for a steady link to be obtained, both stations need to know their own and the other's position. In areas of GPS jamming, or in case of other transmission problems, it can be challenging for a stable link to be obtained.

Our system has alternative solutions in place to help restore and maintain awareness to the systems, so that the line-of-sight gets restored and the television production can be continued without interruptions.

Integration

Custom integration

While our systems are already compatible with most industry-standard protocols and products, we are able to provide custom solutions on short notice.

As all auto-tracking systems are developed, built and maintained in-house by our own team, we can accommodate virtually any request on a per-client basis.

Designed in-house

Our own hardware, engineered end to end

The tracking systems, software and its control electronics are designed and built by our own team. That means the mechanics, the tracking logic, and all operational accessories are all developed together, and are designed to flawlessly integrate in the operational workflow of wireless broadcast technology.

Applications

Where this gets used

Live sporting events

Real-time video, radio and telemetry are the bread and butter of our business. Typical applications are sports like cycling races, sailing events or car rallies.

Live reporting

Specific events that require live reporting from urban areas where fixed cabling or a location-bound satellite van is impossible. Typical examples are election days, religious visits or victory tours after a championship.

In-flight production

Occasionally we have welcomed an actual video crew and reporter on board for live-filming and reporting of rare events like a solar eclipse where the opportunity to film without adverse weather conditions or light pollution guarantees some truly spectacular images.

Security response

We are often involved in projects where a real-live datalink to and between emergency services and event organizers is vital for safe coordination of an event.
